Regenerative Agriculture
Seeking to build an affinity with the land, The Twynam company was created in 1969 when John Kahlbetzer purchased a 100-hectare hobby farm near Picton, New South Wales, called 'Razorback.'
Twynam continued to expand, buying and selling agricultural properties to strengthen its portfolio in cotton, grain, rice and cattle. During this growth, in 1991, that Johnny joined the company and transitioned the businesses towards regenerative practices.
Today, Twynam operates two properties, Wingello Park and Johnniefelds near Marulan, NSW, where we excel in breeding exceptional cattle and polo ponies through regenerative practices. By focusing on pasture management, minimal chemical inputs, and intensive rotational grazing, we improve soil carbon content and animal nutrition.

Our approach

Twynam Studs
We believe the cattle industry must take a more proactive approach to reducing carbon emissions. To lead by example, we've analysed key factors driving emissions and emphasise keeping only productive animals on the farm.
Environmental Impact
We believe the cattle industry must take a more proactive approach to reducing carbon emissions. To lead by example, we've analysed key factors driving emissions and emphasise keeping only productive animals on the farm.
Efficiency Testing
Twynam leads in feed efficiency testing, reducing methane emissions by breeding more efficient cattle, lowering both production and environmental costs.
Cooperative Breeders
We're seeking breeders with herds of 200+ cows to collaborate on testing our bulls. We provide the bulls, buy back male progeny at weaning for feed efficiency testing and kill data, and share the results. All animals will be genetically tested and parent verified. Reach out if interested.
Customer Spotlight
“We've had great success with Twynam Angus bulls on our NT and QLD stations. They've thrived in tough conditions and produced high-quality calves for feedlot markets and replacement females. After purchasing stud females from the Twynam Angus reduction sale, they've excelled in our central Queensland operations, handling heat and parasitic pressure remarkably well, with top-tier calves. Having worked at Twynam for 10 years, I knew the rigorous selection process they apply, and this gave me confidence in choosing their genetics for the CPC stud and commercial herds.”
